"A Race For Love"

***Part 6***
At the Quest Compound.
It was late Monday morning, the day after the concert. Jonny Quest came out
of his bedroom after just waking up from what seemed like an eternal slumber.
He walked into Jessie Bannon's bedroom, and walked to her bed where Jessie was
fast asleep. Jonny just looked at her for a moment, and thought. How
beautiful she looked when she sleeps. She looked just so peaceful and so
sweet. He bent over her, and planted a sweet, passionate kiss on her lips.
To Jonny's surprise, Jessie then returned the favor by by kissing back with a
lingering, lusterous kiss. Finally, they pulled apart.
"Mmmm.....good morning, Jonny," greeted Jessie as she opened her eyes and
looked at him with a smile. "I like that wake up call."
"Good morning, 'Sleeping Beauty'." Jonny just looked at her and smiled.
Jonny gave a big yawn. "Wow, that was some concert last night, huh. Nikki
Fuentes sure knows how to give a concert. Wow, what a night."
"Yeah, she's really good," Jessie replied. "And, I guess she's all right.
I mean, I really like her a lot." She sat up, and looked at her fiance who
was sitting on her bed.
"That's good to hear," Jonny responded. "So, I take it that you approve of
your dad seeing Nikki Fuentes, then."
"I guess so. But, if she turns into a bitch, and makes any wrong moves,
she'll have to deal with me." Jessie finally got out of bed and stood on her
feet. "Come on, we gotta get goin'. We have a have a psychology class at
1:00 and it's already 11:30 am. I have to take a shower yet."
"Hmmm....can I......uh.....join you?" Jonny gave her a flirtatious look and
smiled. "I have to take one, too. So, this way we could kill two bird with
one stone."
"Jonny," Jessie blurted as her face turned red. "You're so bad. No, there
isn't anytime. Plus, I want to ger to Rockport Community College early to get
a bite to eat and study for that test we have in psychology. Have you studied
for this test?"
Uh...yeah, I did." Jonny sounded unsure.
"You don't sound very convincing." Jessie gazed at him, and headed to the
bathroom.
At the Rockport Sherton Hotel.
Race Bannon weas sitting on the sofa while reading a newspaper. Nikki
Fuentes came out of the bedroom all dressed to go out.
"Race, I have to go to the health clinic," Nikki mentioned. "I have to get
physical and some blood work. And, you have to take me." Nikki gave him a
smile.
"All right," answered Race as he put down the newspaper. You all set to
go?"
"I'm all set to go," smiled Nikki.
"Well, let's go." Nikki and Race headed out.
Nikki and Race both walked into the local health clinic.
"Wow, I love that car of yours, Race," Nikki commented. " It is so sleek,
and so cool. And, it's really neat how the voice of daughter is programmed
into the car."
"Thanks, sweetheart," Race replied.
Nikki walked up to the to the reception desk.
"Uh...Nikki Fuentes. I'm here for a physical," Nikki said to the
receptionist.
The receptionist looked at the appointment book. "Yes, Nikki
Fuentes....hey, you're Nikki Fuentes the famous singer!" the receptionist
looked up at Nikki with a big smile. "Wow, this is cool! I love all your
songs, and I was at your concert last night! You are a great performer!"
"Why, thank you!" Nikki smiled.
"Okay, Nikki, just fill this out and bring it back here." The receptionist
handed Nikki a clipboard with a form on it. "The doctor will see you in a
moment.
Nikki and Race went to go sit in the waiting area.
Back at the Quest Compound.
Jonny and Jessie came back from Rockport Community College. They walked in
the front door.
"You know, Jonny, if you had studied more for that test instead of goofin'
off, then you would have gotten a better grade," Jessie suggested.
"I can't believe I got a 'C' on that psyche test," said Jonny with a puzzled
look on his face. He just looked at the test paper in his hand.
The two of them both went into the den, and sat down on the sofa. Jonny sat
real close to Jessie. He leaned toward her and gaver her a sweet, gentle kiss
on her lips which turned into a lingering and lusterous kiss. They continued
on for a little longer. Finally, they parted.
"I promise, next time I'll study harder," said Jonny with his face close to
hers, and smiled.
"Good. I'll even help ya," Jessie replied.
"So, we haven't seen your dad in awhile." Jonny sat up. "He must really
like workin' for Nikki Fuentes. You think, he might wanna stay with her
permanantly? And, plus, they really seem to be hitting it off."
"Jonny, what are you saying?" Jessie gave him a puzzled look. "You think my
dad would leave us to be with Nikki?"
"Well, Jess, he really does love her, and loves working for her."
"Well, Jonny, you're wrong. My dad would neve do that. He would never
leave us," Jessie denied.
At the health clinic.
Nikki and Race were sitting in the waiting area. A nurse walked into the
weaiting area.
"Ms. Nikki Fuentes, the doctor will see you now," said the nurse as she
looked at Nikki.
"Well, here I go." Nikki rose form her seat. "You can wait for me out
here. Okay, Race?"
"Sure thing," smile Race.
After awhile in the examining room.
"Well, Nikki, you are in perfect health," commented the doctor. "Oh, I ahve
some good news for you and your husband."
"My husband? I'm not married, Doctor. That guy who's with me is my
bodyguard.....and my boyfriend." Nikki looked at the doctor confused. "Why?"
"Well, Ms, Fuentes.......you're pregnant," said the doctor.
"What?!" blurted Nikki in shock. "I'm pregnant?!"
